Ward Carbon Aero Tandem Race Wheels utilise a custom spec. 60 mm deep tubeless carbon aero front rim, and either a 60 mm deep rear, or 120 mm, depending on the application. The deeper rear rim depth is not only more aerodynamic, but provides increased strength and stiffness to cope with the increased forces present on Tandem wheels. The extra weight of a Tandem bicycle means that the extra depth is still stable in cross winds.
 
Ward Carbon Aero Tandem Race Wheels test fast even in a solo bike, but are optimised for the different demands of tandem riding and racing. Compared to other wheels, they offer hugely increased stiffness, ride smoothness, and tyre volume when paired with the recommended tyres.
 
Note: It is important to use the recommended tyres in conjunction with this wheel for optimum performance. Tyres and tubes are not supplied as standard, but can be fitted for an additional charge. Contact for options.
 
Heavy duty carbon fibre layup is used for the tubeless compatible clincher rim. Thicker spokes in a higher quantity provide a stiff and reliable connection to the hubs.
 
Hooked carbon rim is rated to a maximum tyre inflation pressure of 120 psi.
 
Wider rim width allows the aerodynamically efficient use of wider faster rolling tyres. This yields benefits such as: decreased rolling resistance; improved comfort; and increased grip. The rim section geometry of this wheel is suited to the fastest tandem suited tyres available on the market.
 
Heavy duty sealed bearing hubs are used, utilising easily replaceable sealed cartridge bearings.
 
24 heavy duty bladed aero spokes, laced radial for the rim brake front wheel. 32 spokes are used for the disc brake variant front wheel.
 
32 bladed aero spokes, laced 3x cross in the rear wheel for a strength and stiffness bias where there is the additional power transmission torque applied.
 
Ward Carbon Aero Tandem Race Wheels are supplied with High Pressure Tubeless rim tape. It is light weight, yet super strong and durable. We have tested it with a clincher tyre to 200 psi (on a Ward 60a rim) with one single ply without any issues. It is thinner than traditional rim tapes, which makes mounting tyres easier.

We offer a 3 year warranty for spoke replacement and retrues. This warranty does not cover postage costs or improper use. In the event of hub or rim failure this is covered by the manufacturer’s policy.
 
Our carbon aero rims have a manufacturer supplied quality assurance warranty period of 1 year under normal riding. If there is any damage not caused by human factors, rims can be replaced.
