The Ward WP4 Tubeless Clincher 4 Spoke Track Wheel is one of the world's first indoor track specific tubeless clincher 4 spoke race wheels, so be proactive and get an advantage over your competition!

 

The Ward WP4 Tubeless Clincher 4 Spoke Track Wheel features a unidirectional aerodynamically efficient shape, which is crucial for maximising speed during high speed track cycling events.

 

The 4 spoke wheel design provides greatly improved lateral stiffness over a 3 spoke design, at a similar weight, while yielding a weight saving of around 150 g compared to a 5 spoke design. We believe the 4 spoke design gives the optimal balance of stiffness to weight for sprint and bunch racing.

 

Wide rim width allows the aerodynamically efficient use of wider tyres than have previously been defacto in track cycling. This yields benefits such as: decreased rolling resistance, improved comfort, and increased grip. The rim section geometry of this wheel perfectly suits the lowest rolling resistance 23-25 mm clincher tyres available.

The Ward WP4 Tubeless Clincher 4 Spoke Track Wheel has been ridden to victory in the Men's Elimination bunch race at round 1 of the 2024 UCI Track Champions League.

 

Note: It is important to use the recommended tyres in conjunction with this wheel for optimum performance.

 

Constructed from strong premium grade carbon fibre, these wheels are robust and resilient too, compared to a conventional spoked wheel, so you can be confident getting extra close in that bunch for an increased drafting benefit.

 

This bicycle wheel is intended solely for indoor velodromes, but could also be ridden outdoors with perhaps a quick swap of the tyre, which is both faster and more convenient due to the clincher tyre format. However, based on our in-house testing, we recommend one of our other models for outdoor velodrome or TT/Triathlon use.

 

Carbon rim is rated to maximum inflation pressure of 120 psi. This may sound low for indoor velodrome use, but the clincher tyres suited to this wheel provide a larger air volume than typical track tubs, which reduces the optimum inflation pressure.
